Jago. (Translation: Wake up)

It is an undeniable fact that in the recent years there has been a significant rise in abuse towards animals and human beings, especially women. This artwork shows how desensitized and apathetic mankind has gotten towards each other to the extent that we no longer care about other people’s life. As absurd as it sounds, it is true, this is the extent that we have gotten at. This piece of art hopes to help masses realize and take accountability of our inhumane and aloof attitude against abuse which is rising day by day. This artwork calls for mankind to start treating each other as human beings and provide everyone the basic human rights regardless of their skin colour, religion, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation etc. It is crucial for us to actively believe in the value of human life and provide assistance to those in need around us in order to reduce human suffering. It is vital for mankind to collectively work towards the betterment of humanity as a whole and promote human welfare in order to improve the conditions of living for each other on this planet.

This artwork depicts a street setting where multiple crimes are being carried on whilst the people in the surrounding continue to casually go about their daily routine without even taking notice of the abuse going on around them. At the bottom right we can see a little girl holding a teddy bear who has been physically abused. Next to her, there is a man beating her wife publicly on the streets. A dog lying dead in the middle of the street with two other dogs surrounding it and a gun with bullets in the foreground which was used to kill the dog. At the very bottom left we can see two guys cat calling and harassing the women walking at the side of the road. All of this is happening while there are kids playing cricket on the street and street hawkers selling fresh fruits and vegetables.
